I'm happy and proud to share my result from Grand Canyon University's Run to Fight Children's Cancer 10 Race. The cause alone is worthy for all runners in the Phoenix area to participate and show support. I ran last's year's 5K race. I did rather well last year so thought I would try the 10K this year. I didn't care for running two loops but somehow it didn't play a factor while running this year. It actually helped since I knew exactly how far I had to run during the 2nd loop.
I'm not a very fast runner so when I felt my magic legs take over at about the half mile mark, I decided to just allow my body and legs to run. Since I no longer listen to music while I run, it was easy for me to relax when I found myself breathing harder. I was able to find my rhythm and soon felt confortable with my cadence. I was able to keep that pace until I crossed the Finish Line.
The plan was to run with ease since am set to run the inaugural City of Peoria Half Marathon tomorrow morning. I didn't intend to run both races in one weekend - I forgot about the 10K race and decided to suck it up and just run both. Today I felt like a Runner amongst fellow runners. My Personal Best for a 10K race until today was 1:08:50 from 2011's Anthem's Turkey Trot Race.
My body and legs feel good so I hope to do well tomorrow morning. I hope there's still magic left in my legs. The weather forecast calls for a sunny and cool morning. I believe I am ready to go out and run my best half marathon race to date. I look foward to sharing tomorrow's race results. Run Xavier run!
