I enjoyed every bit of this past weekend. I enjoyed Happy Hour with a good friend on Friday afternoon/evening and then spent the rest of the weekend home with my feathered Angels. I only left the house to go out for my morning runs and attend Mass.
Best part of the weekend was lying on the couch. We have a board placed in the doorway, we call it the gate, that separates the Arizona room and the living room. The Arizona room (a huge back room area) is where Kylie and Ella stay. I opened the gate and allow for Kylie & Ella to come in and share time with me. They'll come strolling in with excitement, chat for a few minutes, then they'll sit on my arm or just lounge around on my back/side. I can always tell when I have to take them over to the perch for a bathroom break by they way they shuffle when it's time.
It was heart breaking to hear word that Mindy McCready died of an apparent suicide. During the time I worked for the music industry, I met Mindy at a Country Music Expo and thought she was a Darling of Nashville. Even back then, there were stories that she wasn't quite stable and had a great number of demons. When she appeared on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab I was cheering her on hoping that she could turn things around.
In the last 12 months, I've lost 3 friends to suicide. It saddens my heart to know that friends were in such pain that each believed death to be the answer. After all is said and done, my friends are gone and we now have to live our lives for them and ourselves.
Life seems to be at such a fast pace that I forgot that now every one can keep up with today's tempo. It hard to believe that not every one is their own best friend. There are a few friendships that I worry about each and every day. I've never really said a word but now I plan to reach out and ask them how things truly are in their world. Maybe I'm over reacting but I rather over react now than react and deal with things later.
If you need to reach out for help, please do so. Don't be afraid. If you sense your Angels asking you to seek guidance, please listen. To Mindy: I'll always be thankful for the music you brought to my world. Thank you.
